Glatfelter To Donate Bestsellers To
York County's Library System
York, PA June 7, 2000: Beginning this
month, P. H. Glatfelter Company will donate current and future best-selling books printed
on the Companys paper to the York Countys library system.
George H. Glatfelter II, the Companys Chairman, President and CEO, made the announcement public today at the Yorktowne Hotel during a presentation to the York Rotary Club. York County should be the County that reads, said Mr. Glatfelter, noting that the Glatfelter Company is the market leader in the production of printing papers used for hardbound books and novels in the United States. Over one-third of the hardbound books produced in this country are printed on our paper. We understand the value of literacy as well as the pleasure of reading, and we are pleased to share our business success with the community, Mr. Glatfelter added. Specifically, the Company will donate one copy of the following bestsellers to each of the countys 14 libraries: Before I Say Good-Bye, by Mary Higgins Clark; The Greatest Generation, by Tom Brokaw; Tis: A Memoir, by Frank McCourt; and the first three volumes in the Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling. Future books will be donated as they are published; including copies of the newest novel from Tom Clancy entitled The Bear and The Dragon, which will be published later this summer. Paper for this novel is currently being manufactured at the Companys Spring Grove mill. With this gift P. H. Glatfelter Company is helping our community libraries enrich individual lives and promote literacy and life-long learning, said Trish Calvani, Executive Director of the York County Library System. We are delighted by this donation, Ms. Calvani added. Headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, P. H. Glatfelter Company is a global manufacturer of engineered papers and specialized printing papers. In addition to its Spring Grove mill, Glatfelters U. S. operations include mills in Neenah, Wisconsin, and Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. International operations include facilities in Germany, France, Canada, Australia and the Philippines. The Companys common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GLT. |
