New E-Commerce Model Unique To Industry

YORK, Pa. (April 26, 2001) — With the goal of setting new standards for service innovation in the specialty papers and engineered products market, P. H. Glatfelter Company (NYSE: GLT) yesterday unveiled the first of its kind e-commerce business model developed specifically for the Company’s customers. Called MyGlatfelter.comsm, the customer-oriented, B2B web site provides P. H. Glatfelter Company’s customers with an unrivaled depth of information regarding order status, shipments and inventories in real time.

The new e-commerce business model was a collaborative effort between a core team of P. H. Glatfelter Company’s customers, IT specialists, customer support representatives, and the business management team. The site has been in planning and development for nearly 18 months. Utilizing best of breed technology, MyGlatfelter.comsm integrates customer demand planning processes with the Company’s back-end manufacturing system to create an unmatched level of customer service and support.

As the world leader in the manufacture of book publishing paper, the company will initially offer MyGlatfelter.comsm to a controlled group of book publishing customers with the intent to expand the site to its other Business Units and customers in phases. A link to P. H. Glatfelter Company’s ERP system sometime next year will further enhance the system and customer benefits by providing for additional functionality.

The password protected site includes such customer specific detail as: schedule status, order and shipment status, inventory view and release, and direct connectivity to sales, customer support and product assurance personnel. In another industry first, MyGlatfelter.comsm also provides customers with integrated tracking capability for products shipped via carriers using Global Positioning Systems (GPS). The result is a site rich in content and easy to navigate, providing information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
