P. H. Glatfelter Company (NYSE GLT) announced today plans to realign its
corporate sales and marketing organization to create improved customer focus and provide
greater value through its specialized printing papers and engineered products.
Over the next several months, P. H. Glatfelter Company will begin transitioning its
Sales and Marketing efforts from geographic, mill-focused divisions to global business
units. These global business units will be organized by printing and converting papers,
engineered products, long fiber and overlay papers, and tobacco papers. A matrix approach
will also be initiated throughout the Companys information technology, financial,
marketing, and new product development areas to support these business units.
Leading this effort will be Dante C. Parrini, who has been promoted to the position of
Corporate Vice President Sales & Marketing. Mr. Parrini most recently served as
Vice President Sales & Marketing, Glatfelter Division & Corporate Marketing
Strategy.
"Our business environment is changing. As a result, we are transforming our
business to provide closer alignment with the strategic objectives of our customers,"
said George H. Glatfelter II, Chairman, President and CEO . "This new organization
will better leverage our technical resources and provide greater flexibility in addressing
market opportunities and serving customer needs." In addition to the sales and
marketing reorganization, the Company will install an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
system over the next two years. When implemented, the ERP will enable P. H. Glatfelter
Company to respond to customers needs more effectively. "We will be able to
provide better, more accurate, real-time information to our customers faster than ever
before, ultimately helping them create a competitive advantage in their respective
end-markets," Mr. Glatfelter added.
Also today, the Company announced the names of the individuals who will lead the new
business units. Mark W. Pitts, National Sales Manager, Printing Papers Business, has been
promoted to Director Printing and Converting Papers. Mark S. Keller will continue
to serve as Director-Tobacco Papers. Moritz Knappertsbusch, General Sales Manager
Schoeller & Hoesch GmbH, has been appointed Director-Long Fiber & Overlay Papers.
Timothy R. Hess, formerly Gravure Products Manager, has been promoted to
Director-Engineered Products.
The Company also announced that Charles A. Parsons has joined the organization as
Director of Corporate Marketing. Mr. Parsons previously served as Director of Sales &
Marketing-Asia/Pacific for A.W. Chesterton Company. Mr. Parsons and his family will be
relocating from Bangkok, Thailand.
"For most of our customers, the relationships they have with sales representatives
and customer support representatives will not change under the new organization. We want
to ensure continuity of service," said Dante C. Parrini. "What will change is
our ability to provide better solutions and greater expertise to our customers on a
world-wide basis," Mr. Parrini added.
